- Here's a preview from the UW Daily for the game.
- Apparently, Sacramento State DB Joey Banks had played against Jake Browning in the past. It wasn't a pretty game, and he's hoping things will go a little bit differently this time around.
- Be sure to watch for Sacramento State tight end Stone Sander this game. He's making quite the comeback this year, after having missed his first two seasons with injuries.

With week one's loss to Boise State out
of the way, the Huskies get set to face off against an FCS team that has
garnered a reputation, in the last few years, as an eater of FBS
children and a ravager of ... oh, sorry, I got a little carried away.
Seattle,
WA - This week the Huskies face off against the feisty FCS team, the
Sacramento State Hornets. The Hornets have caused problems for more than
one Pac-12 team, and look to do it again on Saturday. Both of these
teams are pushing a bunch of young players into the fray. Last week the
Hornets played 18 freshmen, while the Huskies played 8. Here's all the
info you need to prepare for and catch the game this weekend:

History
This
will be the first time the Huskies and Sacramento State have faced off
on the football field. However, they have faced off multiple times
against other Big Sky opponents. Currently, the Dawgs are batting .952,
with a 20-1-1 record. Most of those wins came against the University of
Montana, back when the Grizzlies were part of the Pacific Coast
Conference. (If you remember, the first time the Huskies played an FCS
team was back in 2011 against Eastern Washington.) The only loss to a
Big Sky opponent came all the way back in 1920, though the Dawgs nearly
stole defeat from the hands of victory both times the played Eastern.
Since
2002, Sacramento State is 2-13 all time against FBS teams, and 2-6
all-time against the Pac-12. Their two wins against the Pac-12 came
against Oregon State in 2011, when the Hornets visited Corvalis, OR and
left with a nail-biting, over time win, and then again in 2012 when they
went to Boulder, CO and beat the home-team Buffaloes 30-28.

Questions Needing Answers
Offense:
Will we some
some run blocking this week? Can we maybe even see some linemen get to
the second level of the Hornet defense? Will there be some intermediate
to long passes this week ... please? Will the receivers be able to get
open?
Defense:
Can I see some
turnovers? I would prefer 4 picks and 3 fumbles ... How about some
sacks? How will our linebackers react to a mobile quarterback? Will the
front seven take another step forward? Who will have the most tackles
for a loss this week?
Miscellaneous:
What is the second most common
thing that will be complained about on the gamethread, since I'm
already pretty sure that the number 1 complaint will be about somebody
with the initials JS? Can the Huskies please keep this game from being
interesting in any way, just to save me from getting some ulcers this
week?
Conclusion
This is a game
that the Huskies should be able to fix, or at a minimum address, their
glaring mistakes from a week ago. I expect to see improved pass
protection, and significantly better run blocking. I'm also expecting to
see our front 7 get after Sacramento States offensive line, and get
some serious pressure on their quarterback.
Ultimately,
the Huskies better win this game comfortably, force multiple turnovers,
and do what FBS teams are supposed to do to FCS teams. This is a game
that should help the younger players get quality reps and experience,
and give them the opportunity to get game speed action, and to allow the
coaches to fix a bunch of the mental errors that occurred during last
weeks game.
If this game
is closer than 17 points at the start of the 4th quarter, you can bet
that I will be joining in with the rest of the "restless" fans on the
gamethread.

Vegas Odds
The Huskies
are 1-0 against the spread this season, but this week they'll take a
break from the Vegas lines, since they're playing an FCS team. I would
also like to point out that I was correct last week in not only picking
that the Huskies would beat the spread, but also that that the final
score would be under 54 points.
Gamethread
If you're up
for a bunch of emotional nutcases, and lots of swear words, come on over
to the game thread and chat for a little while. There might be some
nuts in the room, but hopefully the negativity will be kept to a
minimum, assuming the Huskies do what they're supposed to do and
dismantle their opponent. It opens up a half hour or so before kickoff.
